We're looking for an associate vice president with corporate, media and financial communications expertise.


The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a boutique, growth-focused PR agency based in New York, working with clients across Financial Services (asset management, wealth management, fintech), sustainability, and B2B technology. The Associate Vice President will implement integrated communications programs, manage client relationships, and help drive agency growth initiatives within a highly collaborative, tight-knit team environment.

The Role

As an Associate Vice President, you will play an important role ensuring program success and contributing to agency growth. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders (both client side and internally), providing strategic guidance to clients and implementing the day-to-day communications programs with measurable impact. You’ll also contribute directly to business development efforts and have a voice in the operations and culture as the NY team continues growing and building its client roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy and execution: Play a role in the development of integrated communications strategies alongside senior team members, driving measurable results through strong day-to-day execution to advance strategic goals.
  • Account management: Establish and maintain relationships with clients, media, and stakeholders, participate in and lead client calls, sharing new and relevant ideas, produce high-quality client-ready written materials, and be instrumental in executing client communications programs.
  • Team Management and Mentorship: Play a leading role on account teams, acting as a thought partner to senior leadership, helping shape client strategy, narrative, positioning, and problem-solving – and providing guidance and mentorship to junior members in New York and London to foster their growth and development.
  • New Business: Actively seek to cultivate a network of potential clients, while supporting team-wide new business opportunities and contributing to proposals and pitches.
  • Program Ownership: Take ownership of moving work forward – proactively anticipating needs, and ensuring momentum, while consistently looking for opportunities to expand scope of work to better meet the needs of clients.
  • Content and Media Relations: Create high-quality content, including press releases, bylines, and social media posts, while building relationships with journalists and identifying key media opportunities for clients and securing results.
  • Insights and Markets Understanding: Distill complex financial concepts, data, and research into into clear recommendations, themes, and content.
  • Operational Support and Culture Building: Collaborate on agency marketing activities, internal processes, and initiatives that contribute to a positive and collaborative corporate culture with colleagues in New York, London and across Europe.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of relevant communications experience in an agency, including at least 4 years of experience operating with clients in the financial services sector.
  • Proven expertise leading client accounts, developing strategic communications programs, and delivering measurable results.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with strong presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations and content development, with established relationships in financial services media (national, international, broadcast, trade).
  • A proactive, results-driven attitude with a passion for current affairs, news, and the media industry.
  • Strong professional judgment and discretion, with the ability to navigate sensitive client situations with confidence and care.
  • Experience in business development and the ability to mentor junior staff members effectively.
  • Working knowledge of PR tools, including BusinessWire.
  • Uses AI consistently and effectively to improve productivity and outputs within agreed guidelines (e.g. conducting desk research; developing/testing ideas; copyediting; etc); proactively shares tips and successes with colleagues to improve AI adoption across teams and the agency.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working cross culturally
  • Understanding of social media channel management best practices, particularly LinkedIn
  • Familiarity with Canva and other light design tools
  • Expertise in using Gen AI tools to shape and deliver campaigns
  • Issues and crisis management experience
  • Experience in Investor Relations and Capital Markets communications is highly valued, but not required for the right candidate.

The proposed base salary for this position: ranges from $140,000 to $170,000 and is dependent on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
